A good finish starts with a clear specification.
Finishing can influence component dimensions and acceptance. Lianwei’s available resources include anodizing, painting, powder coating, polishing and laser marking. The right route depends on the specified alloy and the function of the part. Use the checklist below when preparing your drawing or quotation request.
Define the functional surfaces
Identify mating faces, electrical contact areas, threaded features and any zones that must remain untreated. Include masking requirements on the drawing.
Define the appearance
State the process specification and color reference where applicable. Include cosmetic zones and texture or gloss requirements rather than relying only on a general color name.
Define final acceptance
Clarify whether dimensions apply before or after coating. Specify any agreed tests, inspection records and approved reference samples needed for release.
Capability at a glance
- Anodizing
- Assess substrate and alloy compatibility; define process and thickness requirements
- Paint / powder coating
- Define color, appearance, masking and final dimensional requirements
- Polishing
- Define the required surface and any features that must be protected
- Laser marking
- Provide artwork, location, orientation and legibility requirements
- Magnesium projects
- Confirm the specific treatment route; do not substitute an aluminum process by default
Frequently asked questions
Can coating be added after the machining quote?
It can be reviewed, but the change may affect machining allowances, price and delivery. Include finishing requirements from the beginning where possible.
Can I request multiple finishes on one part?
Send a drawing that clearly marks the different zones. Feasibility and masking are assessed before quotation.
